This
product was designed to be extremely thin in the actuated position,
with specific travel parameters.
The
original application was for the telephone industry. Their purpose
was to sense the presence of the coin box, to monitor coin box removal
during servicing, and to alert a control center in the event of
vandalism. The switch had to be extremely thin, with specific travel
parameters. The nature of the environment demanded a rugged, totally
sealed switch.
Since
their initial success in the payphone, Thinline switches have been
adapted to other limit switch applications on machines such as construction
and agricultural equipment. This product represents the lowest cost
approach to a totally sealed switch. With the actuator and mounting
means integral, the one hole mounting capability simplifies installation.
Thinline
switches are submersible and totally unaffected by water, salt spray,
humidity, dirt, dust, sand and oil (with specially-sealed design).
